Amanda Fowler

My muse is the landscape. I think she was born during my childhood trips to the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales. Later living on Dartmoor, visiting Cornwall and many adventures camping and hiking in the deserts of the southwest US.

My preferred medium is oil paint, using palette knives, scrapers, rags and fingers as I don't relish cleaning brushes or using solvent. I enjoy working intuitively, staring with just covering the white surface with my chosen few colours. I always use a limited palette of three or four colours and white then seeing what emerges and going from there, building layers and scratching through to create texture and interest.

This year I was fortunate to be part of a joint exhibition with three other artists at Fisherton Mill in Salisbury. I have exhibited at Sherborne Open and The Winter Open at Arts Quarter, Cheddar.

I work from my home studio near Wincanton, Somerset.
