My name is Sam Williams, I am an abstract artist based at my studio just outside the city of Bath. 

I aim to convey a feeling of calmness in my artwork through shape and composition.

Although my work has a very modern aesthetic, I want it to be an antidote to the busy and frantic nature of the modern world: when viewing my artwork I hope it invites a moment of calm... a chance to take a breath. This is my artistic mission.

My medium of choice is acrylic on canvas, applied with a wide flat brush. Raw canvas now plays a significant role in my artwork, providing a grounding colour and natural texture which create a powerful contrast to my hard-edge colour fields. 

I have a debilitating medical condition, but despite the physical pain and fatigue, I find creating art healing for the soul. My artwork can now be found in homes as far away as South America, and I can’t wait to see where my art finds a home next.
