I gained a degree in Fine Art sculpture at Central St Martins, back in the 80's.I continued my postgraduate study here and then went on to qualify in Adult Education, also regularly exhibiting sculpture. On moving to the Cotswolds, with its history of the wool trade, I became interested in using needle felt as a medium for expression .I embrace the soft warmth of the wool, in contrast to the much harder materials I used making sculpture. I paint with wool, allowing the layers and textures to evolve and grow in 3D relief. I love to make art about place, evoking memories by experimenting and getting lost in the creative moment, finding my contentment in the making. I work from life , sketching or taking photos to translate into needle felt. Inspired by the beauty of our natural surroundings, I record my time at home and from travels abroad, capturing those poignant memories.
